A letter from VP Recruitment Information
Dear Potential New Members,
My name is Sloane Showen and I am Alpha Chi Omega's Vice President of Recruitment. First off I wanted to say how extremely proud I am of each and every one of you for choosing to go through this process. My hope is that throughout this process you will find everything you are looking for and more. I want you to know it's normal to feel nervous and maybe even overwhelmed. It's not easy to put yourself out there to so many women. Rest assured, you are not alone, we have all been through this process ourselves and know exactly how you are feeling.
I have the honor and blessing to say that I found everything I was looking for and more at Alpha Chi Omega. These women have made me a better friend, daughter, sister and leader. Alpha Chi pushes me to be the best version of myself academically, professionally, and of course personally. I can wholeheartedly say that the women here make me feel seen, valued, and loved every single day.
This process will push you out of your comfort zone in all the best ways. Embrace all that you are feeling; the nerves, the excitement, and uncertainty. Remember that everyone's experience is different and never let how someone else is feeling affect how you are feeling. Really try and take a moment to think about who you are, and who you want to be in four years.
My biggest piece of advice for you all would be to be YOURSELF. I know that everyone says this, but it is truly the best way to find the place you will call home for the rest of your college experience. I also encourage you to keep an open heart and open mind. You will end up where you are supposed to, so trust the process and most importantly, HAVE FUN!!
I am sending you all love and support as you take this next step in your journey. Be present and stay true to yourself. Everything happens for a reason.
XOXO,
Sloane Showen
Dear Potential New Members,
You are on your way to finding something so great and amazing! The courage that it takes to put yourself out there is not overlooked in the slightest. Change can be scary, but with change comes new opportunities and I couldn’t be more excited for you! As I sit here writing this I truly wonder where all the time has gone, these past three years have been everything I could have asked for and more . Joining greek life’s opened my eyes to true friendships and a beautiful sense of family at my home away from home. Alpha Chi has shown me the way throughout my college experience, and I think this is something everyone should experience their life time. Put yourself out there, get out of your comfort zone, find your people, and most importantly be apart of something that is bigger than you are! Formal Recruitment can lead you to places you never thought you would be at. Always be YOU and find your people just like I have in Alpha Chi. I am so excited to see where this process takes you!!!
Love,
Marah Kindred
