DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS
Alpha Chi Omega's history is rooted in generosity, compassion, and commitment to our sisters and the greater good.
In 1992 Alpha Chi Omega adopted domestic violence awareness, an issue that affects people all over the world, as our national philanthropy. Together we work to educate our sisters about unhealthy relationships as well as learn how to build healthy ones. We empower our members by giving them the tools to build their own healthy relationships. Our members come together to raise awareness of domestic violence on campus, in our community, and beyond by educating others on its impact providing local resources and tools to those in need.
Each month our sisters volunteer their time at our local Women's Shelter of East Texas; located in Lufkin, TX. In addition, at the beginning of each month each girl in the chapter donates a drive item. These are items are, socks, underwear, toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, and many other items that are used daily that we don't think about! These items are donated directly to the Women's Shelter.

VP PHILANTHROPY
Hi my name is Allyson Vokes and I am the VP of Philanthropy for Alpha Chi Omega at Stephen F. Austin State University. Being able to serve my chapter this year as VP Philanthropy has brought me so many wonderful things. I have been able to grow as a woman in many ways, like gaining leadership skills from planning our fundraising events, and being able to help guide people affected by our philanthropy not only for my chapter, but for the whole campus. Our philanthropy is the Domestic Violence Awareness and we are blessed to have the opportunity to work directly with the Family Crisis Center of East Texas. Throughout the school year we host a variety of events to raise money for the Family Crisis Center and this past school year we raised $26,000! This is a huge accomplishment and this money goes directly to help victims of domestic violence. We also have the opportunity to directly volunteer at the shelter and help them in any way possible. Additionally, we attend and host many events to spread awareness about domestic violence to the SFA and Nacogdoches community. Coming into college, our philanthropy is not something that a student should have to think about but it’s very important to educate everyone about a cause that impacts so many people. Being able to serve as VP Philanthropy has been so rewarding and it makes me so happy to know that we have made such a big impact. The girls of Alpha Chi Omega inspire and encourage me every day to be a real strong women.
PHILANTHROPY EVENTS
We have the amazing opportunity to throw multiple philanthropy events every year to raise money for our local Family Crisis Center of East Texas.
PIZZA PIE WITH ALPHA CHI
Every fall we host Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi! Our sisters sell tickets to the SFA community for a night of unlimited pizza and soda to raise money to support domestic violence awareness. The night is filled with so much fun with a Dj, pizza eating contest, and friends.
ALPHA CHI CLASSIC
Our annual Alpha Chi Classic golf tournament is one of our favorite ways to raise money for our philanthropy! Each of our sisters find local sponsors, make a team, or participate themselves, in the tournament to support domestic violence awareness.
DODGE FOR A CAUSE
Dodge for a Cause is a dodgeball tournament put on by our chapter. We also challenge each sister to put together as many teams for this event as possible in order to raise more money for domestic violence awareness!
